The story

Take the time to see.

The Soul of Waingapu is a one-day cultural journey with Nensi through the city’s market, a traditional village, Sumbanese Ikat making, local food, Marapu stories and the river landscape.

It is an ideal way to begin your Sumba adventure. Time with Nensi and the people she introduces helps you understand the island’s culture, craft and everyday life before you travel farther.

Sacred places, ceremonies, houses and photographs may require local permission. The archaeological stop and kayaking route depend on local access, safety and weather conditions.
